Below are some frequently asked questions about the club. If after reading you are still interested in joining us, and cannot attend the meeting on 27th Feb, please email me with the following information:
We are looking for all standards of players. People interested so far include those who haven't played for years and just want to play socially, in addition to more experienced county players. Once the club is established we will put people in teams according to ability to make sure everyone is playing at the correct level, and against people who match their own ability. I'm not sure I want to join a team. Can I just play for fun? Sure! The main reason I am setting the club up is to have fun, meet new people and get fit at the same time. I want to play competitively - will the club be fielding teams in leagues/tournaments etc.? I am currently in the process of finding out about local leagues which we could join. I am hoping that we can eventually field several teams in various leagues and tournaments. We are not a league or tournament, so feel free to join alone.> We are currently in the process of trying to find somewhere to train. Many leisure centres are booked up for a while, so we may have to be nomadic whilst looking for a more permanent home later on. We are having a meeting to discuss when would be people's preferred time of training though in the next couple of weeks, please email me to be put on the mailing list for information on this meeting. Will you be playing indoor or outdoor? This depends on where we find to play. Judging by my conversations so far, it is more likely that it will be in a sports hall. Many netball courts will soon become tennis courts and no amount of love nor money will perusade those in charge to put the posts back up for us. Is the club a ladies' only or mixed club? Wombles Netball Club is a Ladies only club. This does not mean that we're trying to deliberately exclude men, it's a matter of practicalities. There are enough women who want to play netball at the moment to keep us busy. Once we're very well established and have access to a regular playing pad then we could consider it! Again, this depends on where we can find to play. As an estimate, I would say about £2.50 each, perhaps more if we are able to hire two courts. page last updated on February 12 2003
