Or maybe you just want to add some interesting facets to your elder loved one's daily life. Regardless of the reason, the results of Adult Day Health Care will be beneficial. In most cases, you'll find this care an affordable way to keep your family together longer and with greater happiness.

Poway Adult Day Health Care Center offers two levels of affordable day-care, as well as educational classes and support groups. Our dedicated team of professionals is committed to enhancing the level of independence, dignity and the overall quality of life for older adults and their families by providing day programs.

Adult Day Health Care focuses on providing restorative and/or maintenance care. The program is designed for eligible adults who require more assistance with movement, continence care and those who have certain medical conditions that require nursing supervision and/or physical, occupational or speech therapies.

Adult Day Care provides a structured, individualized program of therapeutic activities developed to enhance mental and physical functioning. The program increases social opportunities for those who may experience memory loss and physical decline.

Educational Classes and Support Groups for clients and families are a specialty. The general public is welcome to attend our free, informative classes and support groups which provide valuable information about dementia and its effect on everyday living. Program Costs
Medi-Cal, VA,HMO or long-term care insurance may fund Adult Day Health Care services to prevent physical decline and/or premature institutionalization, while maintaining the highest level of functioning possible.

Eligibility Requirements
Any adult with functional impairments, either physical or mental, who would benefit from an organized day program of therapeutic, social and health activities may be eligible. To determine if you or someone you know is eligible, please call to arrange an assessment.
The Poway Adult Day Health Care Center service area includes Poway, Rancho Bernardo, Rancho Penasquitos and Scripps Ranch. Residents of other areas may be served by special arrangement.

It All Started With Caring

In 1998 Kathryn Holt had a vision of a safe and supportive place that would help loving families in need of daytime care for their aging loved ones. The journey she set upon was prompted by her much-loved, maternal grandmother Faye Needham. Faye spent her sunset years in the Holt family home when she needed nursing care.

As a wife, mother and school teacher, Kathryn discovered, firsthand how difficult in-home caregiving can be. Through this life experience she learned of an alternative to convalescent home care in the form of Adult Day Health Care programs. When no such program existed nearby, Kathryn found inspiration in the words of anthropologist Margaret Mead:

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed it's the only thing that ever has."

Developing an Adult Day Health Care Center with an emphasis on programs linking children with seniors became Kathryn's passion and career. The mission of the Poway Adult Day Health Care Center is, life enrichment through dignity and independence.
