Geoffrey Rush's Biorgraphy

Geoffrey Rush was born in Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia on July 6, 1951. He attended the University of Queensland, where he received his degree in Arts. His theatre career began at Brisbane's Queensland Theatre Company. He studied for two years at the Jacques Lecoq School of Mime in Paris. When he returned to Australia, he shared the stage with his former roomate, Mel Gibson, In Waiting for Godot. He made his film debut in 1981, in the film Hoodwink. His international break was in 1996's "Shine" for which he received an Academy Award, Golden Globe Award, and Australian Film Institute Award. He now resides with his wife, Jane Menelaus, and two children, James and Angelica.
