Johnny Depp's Biography

John Christopher Dep III was born on June 9, 1963, in Owensboro, Kentucky. He later moved to Miramar, Florida with his family, and that is where he grew up. At age 12, he received a guitar. That guitar became his passion. At age 15 his parents divorced, and at age 16 he decided to drop out of school to persue a career in music. He played guitar for numerous groups, one of the most sucessfull being The Kids. They even opened for Iggy Pop. His firts marriage was to Make up artist Lori Allison at age 20. When his career in music failed, he resorted to selling pens over the telephone to make ends meet. He and Lori divorced. But while they were still married, she introduced him to actor Nicolas Cage. In the beginning they did not get along, but later became close friends. Johnny signed on with Cage's agent after Cage convinced him to give acting a shot. Wes Craven's "A Nightmare on Elm Street" was his first audition. Johnny got lucky when Craven's daughter said she thought he should get the part of Glen. Johnny's career was launched.

Johnny took a role one the TV Show "21 Jump Street" after failing to get very many offers for more movies. Johnny did not think the show would last long, so he took the job. The show turned out to be a teen favourite, and Johnny was pushed as a teen idol by the Fox executives. The show actually lasted for four years. During those years, Johnny was turned into a teen icon, and the epitomy of "cool". In hopes of changing his cutesy image into that of a serious actor, he took on a role in "Cry-Baby". He gained the respect of critics and Hollywood types by taking on roles as odd characters and prooved that he was a serious actor. He was awarded the "Star of Tomorrow" Award in Las Vegas at the Showest convention, 1991. "Edward Scissor Hands", "Benny and Joon", and "Ed Wood" all earned him Golden Globe nominations.

Because of his off-screen lifestyle, Johnny became a tabloid favourite early in his career. His bad-boy image was developed after being involved in numerous altercations, and displaying an attitude which was perceived as devil-may-care. As he began to be involved with female celebrities, the tabloids became even more interested in him. His relationship with Winona Ryder was the most talked of. Their engagement lasted 4 years. He met Kate Moss at the Café Tabac in New York City in 1994, one year after his official break up with Winona. Until 1998, Johnny and Kate hand an on again, off again relationship. Then he started to date French singer and actress, Vanessa Paradis, who would later become his wife.

Johnny has had several brushes with the law, one of them being the infamous trashing of a hotel room at Hotel Mark in New York City. The press had a field day on this quite insignificant occurance, demondtrating that they most certainly are fascinated with him.

Johnny is in a band called "P", who realeased their first CD in November, 1995. He also owns a club, "The Viper Room", where his band occasionally plays.

Johnny now lives with his wife, Vanessa, and their two children, Lily-Rose Melody Depp,and Jack Depp.
