Q: Was the title changed from "Miss Cast Away" to "Miss Castaway & the Island Girls" and why? A: Twentieth Century Fox sent a letter to the producer, Bryan Michael Stoller telling him to change the name or the studio would take legal action. Fox studios felt that audiences would be confused between their film "Cast Away" starring Tom Hanks, and Mr. Stoller's film, "Miss Cast Away" with Eric Roberts, Charlie Schlatter and pop-star Michael Jackson. Mr. Stoller and many others did not agree with Fox, but the name was changed to avoid going to court with Fox and incurring legal costs to keep the original title.
