During the first season, Luke was clearly in love with Lorelai - and Lorelai had no clue. For years Luke wrestled privately with his feelings for her, but he could never quite gather up the courage to tell her. During the fourth season, however, Lorelai became much less clueless, and even began a relationship with Luke. And now, at the end of the 5th season, Lorelai has asked Luke to marry her.
