BEWARE! THE SCIENTISTS REVOLT: A Comparison Between the Burroughs Bulletin First Edition Text versus the Fantastic Adventures Magazine Text

"Beware!" was written August 9-31, 1922. The story was shopped around under the pen-name of John Tyler McCulloch to see if a Burroughs' story would sell even if his name was not attached to it. It did not sell. Ray Palmer, of Amazing Stories, contacted Edgar Rice Burroughs Inc. to see if they had any stories available for sale. "Beware!" was among those sold to Palmer. With the permission of ERB Inc and ERB, the story was rewritten by Palmer (or one of his staff) and was published in Fantastic Adventures pulp magazine in July 1939. The original story was not published until July 1974 in The Burroughs Bulletin.

This book compares the two texts, side-by-side, for scholars and laymen to see the alterations Ray Palmer of Amazing Stories/Fantastic Adventures performed on the text.
