I finally got a chance to see Christopher Nolan's sleeper hit, "Memento." I decided to just take a chance and purchase the newly-released Special Edition 2-Disc DVD. Well, what did I think of the movie? It kicked ass! It's definitely one of the best and most original mind-boggling murder-mysteries I've ever encountered. Do I recommend the DVD though? Well....I kinda have mixed feelings about that. Let me explain. The packaging is very cool and all, it's designed to look like a mental case-file on "Leonard Shelby"(the main character). However, the thing I really have a problem with is the navigation. It's clever, but it'll take about half-an-hour without the proper instructions to get to what you want. The special features(if you can find them) are awesome though. One really cool feature I came across was this thing that allows you to watch the film in chronological order(for those who don't know, "Memento" is essentially played backwards). Make sure you only use it after you've seen it in its original form though, otherwise you're not watching it the way it was meant to be seen. Regardless, the movie alone is worth the horrible navigation, so if you haven't already done so, buy this DVD!
I didn't see any new movies this week, so no new reviews have been posted. Although I was planning to see "The Sum of All Fears" on Friday, I made the mistake of going with friends. Here's what happened. Me and two other friends were supposed to meet up at Sunset Place(a mall in my hometown of Miami) to hang around for a while and catch the 8:15 showing of "The Sum of All Fears." However, that was not to be. We ran into some other acquaintances, and our group went from three to about eight. Before I knew it, we were at an arcade blasting zombies and I guess you could say we "over-played." By the time we arrived at the theater, it was already too late and if we bought tickets for the next showtime, we would've been out of there past midnight. So anyway, all of our plans to see a movie pretty much went to hell.
Oh well, there's always next weekend. This weekend I'm definitely gonna see a movie, but it might not be "The Sum of All Fears." You see, this weekend marks the release of a long-awaited movie for me. No it's not "Windtalkers"(I've had my fair dose of war movies after September 11th, by now I'm pretty much sick of them) but Steven Spielberg's "Minority Report." That movie looks like it's gonna kick ass, so hopefully I'll see both "The Sum of All Fears" and "Minority Report."
Am I the only one who has any interest in "Bad Company?" For god's sakes, it looks funny!
Excuse me a moment, but there's something I feel I must express in big letters:
Summer Vacation's FINALLY HERE!!!!!
I apologize for that. I guess I got a little carried away, but there's something about the summer movie season that I love. I guess it has to do with the fact that some of the most hated(by critics, not by me)movies get released around this time. Also, no school means MORE MOVIES!
Wow, I have just showed how much of a geek I am by writing that previous paragraph. Oh well...
Well, as you can see, I really don't have much to say today. This is actually the shortest home page update I've ever done. Oh well, it's late and I'm sleepy, so until next time, Carpe Diem.
Wow, that was lame...
