The Ferguson Brothers
South African Chapter

My Vaaljapie

Fergusons around here are fondly referred to by this Afrikaans (my home language, check the wordlist)name. Amanda (the house pet that has tracks like a human being) is busy instructing Bianca (4 yrs) and Melanie (4 months) in the finer points of her biggest competition.

I own a 1950 TED 20 Ferguson, S# 122934 (dating courtesy Massey Harris Page). The paint-job is not my choice, but an inherited fact. At the moment she's in pieces. I eventually splitted her, and is busy with the delicate operation of cosmetic surgery.

"The Ferguson Brothers" is Donald D Curtis's idea (that's what I thought - according to ddc3, it was actually Tim Tucker "who coined the phrase"). This was my entry point to the Tractor-Web. He also published a picture I send him. Please pay him a visit.

Watch this space! Some serious construction sill to come!

Some Memories

The Photo above is very special to me, and will probably stay on my page forever - even when I'm finished with the face-lift. It's the only one of all my girls, including Melanie (on the driver's seat), together in one place. My wife and I were very fortunate to have been able to share a glorious 5 and a half months of our lives with Melanie.

Melanie, allthough you are no longer part of our lives, your memory will live forever in our hearts

Mams en Pappa.

Standard Vanguard Engine

The Fergusons manufactured in Coventry, England (TE-series) came with the Standard Vanguard Engine. The picture is of the engine as fitted to the Standard Vanguard motor vehicle. Some adaptations were made for the tractor version, but the picture is close enough. This engine's output was rated as 68Hp. I have hunted down some specifications for general information.

Ferguson History

There is a lot of information available, if you haven't read it by now, you can find it HERE on Don Bowen's Page.
