A Support Group for ALL Members of the Adoption Triad

FREE SEARCH REGISTRY FOR FLORIDA PANHANDLE & SURROUNDING ALABAMA CITIES/TOWNS

ALL BIRTHPARENTS, BIRTHSIBLINGS, BIRTHGRANDPARENTS, ADOPTEES, & ADOPTIVE PARENTS ARE TRIAD MEMBERS ... you don't have to do anything to become a triad member ... you ARE a member through your relationship with someone who was separated from their birthfamily by adoption.

COMMON BOND is a support group dedicated to providing support to all members of the triad who have the need and desire to meet with other birthmothers, adoptees, and adoptive parents. It was locally founded by three reunited birthmothers. It's membership is FREE to anyone who is interested. Please send us an e-mail if you are interested in learning more about our group.

If you are a triad member living in the PANAMA CITY, FLORIDA, FT. WALTON BEACH, CHIPLEY, CRESTVIEW, ETC. area please contact Mary for information on how to get together with other triad members in this area. I recently met with two wonderful birth mothers from this area who are offering their support to all members of the triad community, so if you're in that part of the state don't hesitate to drop Mary a line to learn more about joining forces with them.

If you are searching for someone as a result of a BIRTH IN PENSACOLA, FLORIDA, MOBILE, AL, OR ANY OTHER CITY IN THE FLORIDA PANHANDLE (i.e. FT. WALTON BEACH, MILTON, PANAMA CITY, EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, NAS PENSACOLA, BREWTON, AL, ... basically we're posting any births/adoptions that took place anywhere in between Pensacola, FL and TALLAHASSEE, FL -- which we realize is a very broad definition of the Florida Panhandle) OR AN ADOPTION THAT TOOK PLACE IN ANY OF THESE AREAS, WITH THE BIRTH HAVING TAKEN PLACE IN ANOTHER CITY I invite you to send your search information to Common Bond. We need to have at least your basic information: gender of adoptee, relationship of person searching, date of birth, location of birth, plus location of where adoption took place if you have knowledge of this. Please include your e-mail address (which will not be posted on line) plus an alternate means of contacting you in case your e-mail address changes or is out of service. This is important, as we have no other way of contacting you in case of a possible match. Anytime you write us regarding your search please be sure to include the date of birth (dob) you are searching for in the e-mail. You must be 18 years of age in order to post your search data.

If you are just beginning your search for a loved one lost to you through adoption I urge you to first register with the International Soundex Reunion Registry. This registry is FREE and is the largest in the United States. If you have already been searching for awhile, but have not registered with ISRR you need to consider doing so, for it is an important place to put your search information.

If you are a birthmother I urge you to consider joining the Sunflower's Birthmom's List. Members of this FREE list communicate via e-mail. There is an unbelievable amount of support provided to members by other birthmoms on the list, plus a regular ongoing exchange of knowlege and information between members ... not to mention an occassional joke to lighten up the day.

If you are an adoptee I encourage you to visit the homepage of a group of adoptees who are politically active, working diligently to reform closed adoption laws.

The internet is the greatest tool birthparents and adoptees have to reconnect with one another. I encourage you to post your information in as many places as you can find. If you visit a website and they do not have a registry ... or their registry is geared toward a specific state other than the one you are searching in ... check to see if they have a guestbook, and if they do POST your basic search information on it. BE SURE TO KEEP A NOTEBOOK OF EVERYWHERE YOU POSTED, AND INCLUDE THE ADDRESS OF THE WEBSITE YOU POSTED ON. This will be your roadmap, and will help you if you have to go back and change an e-mail address. It is important that you keep your e-mail address current, as this is the ONLY way people inquiring about your posting have of getting in touch with you.
