William David Rummel Sr. and Cora Estella Gashaw were married May 22, 1919 in Shanksville, PA. William was the son of John Wesley Rummel b. Abt. 1874, and Sarah Zimmerman, both of Conemaugh Twp., Somerset, PA. He was the grandson of David Rummel, b. Abt 1841, Somerset Co, PA and the great-grandson of John Rummel b. Abt. 1806, Somerset Co. PA. William (Bill) was a Banker in Jerome, and a Lay Pastor of the Maple Springs Church of the Bretheren. He went home to be with the Lord in August of 1989 in Johnstown, PA Cora Estella Gashaw is the daughter of Isaac Austin Gashaw b. Aug. 18, 1872, in Connor, PA, d. Sept. 13,1896 in Hooversville, PA, and Gurtha Rodgers b. Mar. 31, 1876 in Forward, PA. She is granddaughter of Eli Gashaw, b. June 20, 1845 in Glade, Twp., Cambria Co. PA, d. Feb. 7, 1929 in Somerset Co. PA., and Catherine Kaufman, b. Aug. 29, 1848, d. Mar. 18, 1928 in Somerset, PA. Cora also is the granddaughter of David and Martha Rodgers of Quemahoning Twp., Somerset Co. Cora (Nana) is 101 years young and is living in Arizona. We would like to preserve the history of these families and Nana's memories here and, at the same time, share them with you.
