"Dream as if you'll live forever, live as if you'll die today."
On the evening of September 30, 1955, James Dean sped into the coming twilight that was descending upon the California highway. He had not yet turned on his headlights as he neared the upcoming intersection. Within a matter of seconds, a car making a left turn pulled out straight into the path of Jimmy's Porsche Spyder 550. The collision threw Jimmy's head back violently, snapping his neck on impact. Jimmy was pronounced dead at approximately 5:45 p.m. due to a broken neck, multiple fractures of forearms, a fractured leg, numerous lacerations, cuts and bruises all over his face and body, a shattered jaw, and internal injuries.
At the young age of 24, James Dean was to become Hollywood's newest emerging star. He represented the very embodiment of youthful rebellion, purity, and alienation. He went on to captivate the world with his angelic face and his tremendous acting abilities. Complete with faded jeans, a white t-shirt, and the perfect slouching stance, James Dean became a hero and a legend.
He had completed only three movies before his tragic death; East of Eden, Rebel Without a Cause, and his final movie, Giant.
