Welcome to Jonjb's Homepage on
Angelfire. This page is where I put examples of poetry and short fiction. There is also a section for music, complete with sample sound files in *.wav format. The sounds are made with homemade musical instruments. Enjoy!
Here's some slightly poetic prose to start us off:
My Old Hometown

Where there once stood an old shopping
center,
There
stands a University.
I don't know what
became of the old
campus.
The old nightclub where I used to
go dancing has
closed down. It has changed hands many times
since.
The old restaurants I used to
frequent have
closed their doors. What has happened to all
the good
eateries?
My high school classmates
are scattered to
the ends of the earth. At the last reunion,
I met some of
them. Their faces were lined with worry.
Looking into
their eyes, I remembered old
times.
The only
constant is change.
Now I"m in a new
place. There
are new places to seek out, new people to
meet and new
activities to experience.
The future
beckons. Yet
the past cries out to be
remembered.
Have I learned
from the latter, or will I repeat old
patterns?
Perhaps I carry my old
hometown wherever I
go.

Grinningdog, poet at large! Grinningdog is in
charge of
Open Mic nights at a local coffeehouse. I go
to that
coffeehouse to read my poems, as well as to
play guitar and
harmonica and sing songs. That's grinningdog at the mic right now! You know, the tall dude with the long blond hair, lol!
Here's one of Grinningdog and yours
truly. I'm the fellow with the receding hair line and clean-shaven face. As to the receding hairline, I guess I'm nto getting any younger, am I?
