Dragon Lore
The trumpets announced the King with a blare,
The battle began and was fought with care,
Dragons soared on gauzious wings,
Like giant puppets dancing on strings.
Shadows cast give warning dire,
And out went the cry, beware dragon fire!
Men of bravery hear my cry,
Beware the dragons when they do fly.
Grab your shield and grab your mace,
Let thy helmet protect your face.
Archers be ready, let your arrows sail,
Then dodge the tip of the dragons tail.
The battle was hard and lasted long,
For the dragons were many and very strong.
Justice was on the side of right,
The Knights prevailed over dragon might.
The last one left to find its lair,
The Knights on their chargers followed it there.
The last of the dragons they did kill,
The way that they did is talked about still.
With the dragons gone the King decreed,
Of Knights - there no longer was need.
Ballads sung about men of honor,
Suits of armour and a great white charger.
Chivalry and Romance have done their death dance,
With their only enemies a sword and lance.
Knights and Dragons are things of the past,
I knew it was to good to last.
As I sit and let my thoughts wander,
Here's an idea I often ponder.
Would Chivalry and Romance be revived.
Were it known the last dragon had survived?
