My Pagan Beliefs
What does paganism, and some parts of wiccan mean to me?
by: Griho Amrut
I am not one who knows as much as others. I only know what I have taught myself, found out myself, and found in myself to be true. So always seek out alternative sources of information. I am not a witch in a coven, I am not wiccan nor am I in any group of pagans. I only know that some of my beliefs are earth based in nature, and often seem to have much in common with paganism and wiccanism; therefore, even though I do not know the whole of the religion(s), I call my beliefs at this time time wiccan/pagan in nature.
First and foremost is the belief that I should harm none. No-one not even myself should be harmed, but that does not mean that when attacked I will not protect myself. I will protect myself without harming another if at all possible.
As part of harm none, I believe that I should help others whenever possible.
Balance in my life, with other people, and with nature is what I strive for in my religion.
I respect others' beliefs and religions as we all have our own sprititual and emotional needs to be met, and who is to say that one religion is less apt to bring about fulfillment of those needs than another? There are different means to the same end.
I enjoy the diversity that is part of our cultures, religions, and peoples. I respect the diversity even though sometimes I can not always understand it.
Forgiveness of harm done is constantly striven for.
Life is sacred, and should be protected from harm.
I do not worship a deity, but use the symbols of the moon and the sun to represent a two-fold concept of darkness & light with male & female coexisting in balance.
The lifeforce of ourselves, others, nature, and of other animals is constantly around us. We only have to focus, and we can grasp the divine so as to help ourselves and others.
There are so many parts of this religion that I can not describe them all. And what is even more beautiful, is that there is diversity even within the pagan and wiccan religions.
I can not describe the feeling of divinity and sacredness that I get when I practice my religion.
My religion is constantly part of my life. It is not a thing to do occassionally, but a life practice.
