``It is well known in the recording industry that teenagers buy a lot of music and spark most new music trends,'' stated John Geraci, vice president of Youth Research at Harris Interactive. ``HarrisZone.com is an effective tool for entertainment and marketing companies to tap into the mindset of an audience which has become increasingly difficult to understand through traditional marketing research polling.''
Geraci added that the company's online polling method is being tapped by entertainment companies as well as national ad agencies, marketing, media and consumer marketers needing to understand how to best reach this elusive demographic, Generation Y teenagers and children. The company presently has syndication research projects online with both MTV (MTV/Harris YouthPulse(SM)) and Nickelodeon (Nickelodeon/Harris KidPulse(SM)). Additionally, the company is planning to post an online Oscar poll for this year's Academy Awards.
