My Virtual Photo Album

HELLO EVERYBODY AND WELCOME TO MY NEW PHOTO ALBUM

MEET JOSH PICTURED BELOW HE IS A NEW ADDITION TO OUR FAMILY. A 5 MONTH OLD RESCUE TOY THAT WE ADOPTED FROM A WONDERFUL LADY IN GEORGIA WHO IS IN POODLE RESCUE (SHE ALSO RESCUES OTHER BREEDS) AND AS OF THIS POSTING I AM NOW ALSO IN POODLE RESCUE.

IF ANY OF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING A RESCUE DOG PLEASE LET ME KNOW, OR IF ANYONE KNOWS OF A PUPPY MILL THAT IS MISTREATING THE DOGS LET ME KNOW THAT TOO WE IN RESCUE HAVE A LONG ARM AND CAN SAVE DOGS AROUND THE COUNTRY HOWEVER WE CAN'T DO IT WITHOUT YOUR HELP.

PLEASE HELP ME SAVE A LIFE

PLEASE HELP ME IN STAMPING OUT THESE HORRIBLE CONDITIONS THAT THE DOGS LIVE IN. MOST OF THEM DIE IN THESE PLACES THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT IT IS TO WALK, RUN, OR EAT A DECENT MEAL THEY EAT, SLEEP, AND STAY IN THOSE CAGES WHICH ARE NEVER CLEANED
IF THEY ARE FED AT ALL ITS JUST TO KEEP THEM ALIVE TO MATE. AFTER THEY CANT MATE ANY MORE THEY ARE LEFT TO STARVE TO DEATH.

IF SOME GET LUCKY ENOUGH TO MAKE IT TO A SHELTER OR THE PUPPY MILL GETS RAIDED IT WOULD RIP YOUR HEART OUT TO SEE THE CONDITION THAT THEY ARE IN. FULL OF INFECTION SORES, TEETH ROTTEN, BLIND, PAWS RIPPED OPEN FROM THE CAGES IS ONLY A BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF WHAT YOU WILL FIND. NOT TO LEAVE OUT THE LONELINESS AND LACK OF HUMAN TOUCH.

YOU CAN HELP BY DONATIONS TO BRING THEM BACK TO GOOD HEALTH AND SAVE A LIFE
SMALL BLANKETS, PLUSH TOYS, LEASHES OR RUBBER TOYS BALLS. EVEN THAT CARRY CRATE THATS NOT IN USE ANY MORE.
PLEASE SEND ITEMS OR MAKE OUT CHECK OR MONEY ORDER TO

The pups in pet store displays are adorable—wriggling balls of energy just waiting to jump into customers’ arms. Store owners count on love at first sight because it prompts people to shell out hundreds of dollars to take cute puppies home. It should be a happy ending: The dog gets a home and the store turns a profit. But there is an unseen, darker side to the story.

As long as pet shops churn out puppies, unwanted dogs in animal shelters will be killed. And most pups sold in stores come from hellholes called puppy mills, where mother dogs and “studs” spend lonely lives in miserable cages, producing litter after litter, like so many widgets off an assembly line.

Kansas Officials Ignore Animal Cruelty

For two months (from April 29 - June 26) a PETA investigator worked at Nielsen Farms — a puppy mill in Kansas. His job was to feed, water and clean up after hundreds of dogs condemned to small wire enclosures. The animals had few comforts—no bedding on the hard wire, no protection from the searing hot summers or the frigid winters and no regular veterinary care. Crusted, oozing eyes, raging ear infections, mange that turned skin into a mass of red scabs, abscessed feet from the unforgiving wire floors—all were ignored or inadequately treated.

An Australian cattle dog with a palm-sized sore on her back was never seen by a veterinarian and the wound did not heal properly. Some dogs, caught in the wire of their cages, injured their feet and hobbled painfully around, trying to balance. Our investigator also discovered that the collar on a Labrador retriever had not been adjusted as the dog grew and had become embedded in his flesh. Even though the gangrenous skin fell away as the collar was removed, it was treated with nothing but a worm-repellant spray.

Timid dogs were terrorized by their more aggressive cage-mates, who often prevented them from eating and drinking. Conditions were also unsafe. Several Labrador pups escaped from their poorly built kennel, and one was killed by other dogs in an adjoining run, yet the fence was never fixed.

Perhaps most heartbreaking of all were the old mother dogs who had gone mad from confinement and loneliness. Our investigator watched these poor dogs circle frantically in their small cages and pace ceaselessly back and forth, back and forth, oblivious to anything but the pattern of their strange behavior—their only way of coping with their despair.

The tragic conditions at Nielsen Farms are typical of the hundreds of puppy mills that litter the Midwestern states. Laws offer little protection and are poorly enforced by U.S. Department of Agriculture employees, whose visits are infrequent and usually announced ahead of time. Our investigator witnessed one USDA inspection. The inspector glanced at the cages but did not examine the dogs. Later, the inspector asked for an employee’s home phone number, then called and asked her for a date.

Just weeks after PETA’s investigation of Nielsen Farm revealed tiny, filth-encrusted cages and sick dogs with raging ear infections, disfiguring mange and open, untreated wounds, the Kansas puppy mill closed its doors—one dilapidated breeding farm fewer to supply the pet store puppy trade. The U.S. Department of Agriculture has also charged the farm’s owners with violations of the federal Animal Welfare Act.

Puppy mills such as Nielsen will continue to operate and profit as long as people buy puppies from pet stores. The public has the power to end the suffering of dogs in puppy-mill prison. You can help us reach consumers and make a huge difference for dogs who, like your own companions, deserve decent homes.

I am a responsible Pet Owner!

Can you imagine the income for the states of Missouri, In my on-going battle and investigation of Andrew Hunte and The Hunte Corporation, the one thing that has stuck in my mind...is how much money this particular miller makes. Last I heard, when he tied himself contractually to JB Hunt trucking, it gave him the elevated status of largest international puppy miller. There is no doubt about the amount of money high volume commercial breeding facilities make. Is it any wonder that the sponsors of the anti-photography bill were from the same county as The Hunte Corporation? (that bill was disguised as an agri-terror bill). The Hunte Corporation is the biggest employer in the entire area, so the locals support and stand behind him...even when he cheats them by offering them $100/per pup (to encourage them to buy a breeding pair) and then only pays $25 per pup. These backyard breeders, the ones supporting the millers and brokers, are the worst when it comes to care and treatment of the dogs. Add to that the anger of being cheated by Hunte and forced to breed their dogs to recoup their losses--doesn't make for a happy scenario. In looking over the numbers on that list, I actually think they were under-estimated. Soft coated wheatens are in high, high demand, with people easily willing to pay anywhere from $1200-$3000. They list the profits for wheatens at $390, which I believe are awfully understated. That being said, it is a little easier to understand how a state, like Missouri, can give grant money to the likes of Andrew Hunte and The Hunte Corporation. Idealistically, I would like to think that we could bring down a corporation the size of Hunte; realistically, however, I think we can hope to hit him in the area that means most to him...$$$. We can help bust BYB and small millers, who are supporting people like Hunte. Limit his supply and help continue to educate the public on the perils of mills....threreby, limiting the demand. Stay in touch and in the face of legislators and push for more and more legislation for animal welfare. Stay on the authorities to see that the laws are enforced. Make Hunte provide better living conditions, more socialization, better medical care, better food--all costing him much more. Hold him financially responsible for his bad breeding practices...By doing these things, we can hit Hunte in the wallet...by making his "product" more expensive to produce. A more costly product+decreasing supply+decreasing demand will really hit him in the financial statement--which, in my humble opinion, is ALL that he cares about. He doesn't give two cents for the welfare of the breeding animals...only in the bottom line. Sorry, I got carried away. Once again, I am on my soapbox about Goodman, Missouri's claim to fame: The Hunte Corporation. :( The "Show-Me" state knows its puppymills are something to hide--a bill before the Missouri legislature proposes to make photgraphing a puppymill a crime. HB352 is called the "Animal Research and Production Facilities Protection Act," would make it a class D felony to: 7) Without the express written consent of the animal facility, photograph, videotape, or otherwise obtain images from a location within the animal facility that is not legally accessible to the public; What's more, posting that photo on the web or forwarding it to others would also be a felony: 2. Any person who intentionally agrees with another person to violate section 578.407 and commits an act in furtherance of such violation shall be guilty of the same class of violation as provided in subsection 1 of this section.
