“The Specialist” Ric Gold

Height: 6'1"

Weight: 244

Hometown: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Entrance Music: "Kashmir" by Led Zeppelin

Physical Appearance: Ric is what the other wrestlers would call a "pretty boy." He has short golden-blond hair, Blue eyes and a build like Triple H. Outside the ring, Ric is custom made. He wares Italian leather shoes and expensive Armani suits.

In Ring Appearence: Ric’s in-ring attire consists of wrestling trunks which have his initials, RG written in cursive. Ric also has his initials written in cursive on the side of his boots. Ric usually wears different color trunks and boots each time he comes to the ring. To top off the wardrobe, he also wears fancy, Flair like robes to the ring, with "The Specialist" or “Gold” written on the back in cursive.

Background: Ric Gold was born and raised in the “Steel City” of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Ric’s family is among the most wealthy and influential in the city. Most of the Gold family’s wealth comes from holdings in the steel industry. Ric Gold’s parents also brought in good money through their professions. Ric’s father is a lawyer at Pittsburgh’s largest law firm, while his mother is a teacher at the University of Pittsburgh. In another family note, Ric’s brother Mark followed in his footsteps and is also a professional wrestler.

Ric was “born with a silver spoon in his mouth”, as some people might say. All through high school Ric was a High Honors Student, and a scholar athlete in both wrestling and football. Ric’s high school wrestling career was very productive. Ric made it to states three years in a row. In his Sophomore year Ric made it to the quarter-finals, the following year he made it to the semi-finals. But his crowning achievement came his senior year when he became State Champion in his 180-220 weight class.

After high school Ric was recruited by Joe Paterno to play football at Penn State. Gold again was a top athlete and honor student at Penn State. Ric played football for a year, but went back to wrestling after he was introduced to “The Living Legend” Larry Zybisco. Larry told Ric, “I’ve seen you wrestle and I think you are a natural and should stick to it. You could be one of the greats in this sport, of course not as great as me.” Ric followed the advice of Larry and it paid off for him, as he won the State Championship two years in a row, and won a National Championship.

After College, Ric wrestled in some independent organizations, and won many regional titles. Ric Jumped into the big leagues, when he joined the IWF/GWA/ACW, back in August of 1997. While in the IWF/GWA/ACW Ric held titles such as, American Tag Team Titles (2), World Tag Team Titles, World Television Title, and World Heavyweight Title. When the ACW closed it’s doors Gold took a few months off, then signed a contract with the UWF, which later became the NSW (Gold had a prior stint with he NSW when he was still working in the ACW). Gold achieved much success becoming the first man to hold the UWF World Title two times. Gold was last seen in the W4, but has now come to the EWA to continue his legacy of excellence.

Ric Gold’s wrestling style is mostly technical, but he also combines that with an ability to brawl or take an opponent down with a power move, when the situation calls for it. Ric developed his wrestling style by combining the techniques of his favorite wrestlers, along with his own special abilities. Ric Gold claims to be the greatest wrestler in the world today and just might be.

When you talk about one of the most hated men in the sport today, the name Ric Gold will more than likely come up in conversation. “The Specialist” has been criticized for being arrogant, cocky and self-centered. It has also been said that Ric Gold has two allegiances. One is to himself and the other is with whomever has more money than he does. So when Ric is not on someone’s pay roll, you can usually find him leading his own group to whatever goal he has... and Ric only has one goal, to be World Champion.

Face, heel or tweener: Heel

Set up move: The Ecstasy of Gold - Reverse Russian Leg-sweep

Finisher: The Golden Spike - A top rope DDT. {Note: If the opponent is too big for Gold to hoist to the top rope, he drapes his stunned opponent near the ropes while he goes to the top, then takes him by the neck and fall off the rope, spiking him into the mat.}

Figure Four - Figure Four Leg Lock

Strengths:1. Technically sound wrestler, but can brawl when needed. Great ring savvy, He always knows where he is in and out of the ring at all times. Master rule breaker and ring psychologist. Tremendous endurance also helped along by the fact that he can pace almost any match to his liking.

Weaknesses:1. Can be over confident and take opponents lightly. Even though Ric is an expert rule breaker, it sometimes hurts him. Another flaw of Ric’s is he loves his money and the lifestyle he lives and will often sink to low levels to keep it.
