Even as a small child with coloring books and crayons in hand, I was fascinated by color, shape and form. I began my art education in school. As a young adult I studied air brush techniques and was employed tinting photographs for six photography studios in Detroit, Michigan. Throughout the years I practiced and took art instruction from local artists in the Detroit area. After moving to Florida in l986 I took lessons from such nationally recognized television artists as Lynne Pittard and Bob Ross. I have entered my artwork in many competitions and have been awarded best of show, people's choice and numerous ribbons. Although I have been selling my artwork for many years, I primarily paint for the personal satisfaction I receive. I believe that each of my paintings tells a story that draws the viewer in. It is so thrilling to know that I paint well enough that people want to display my paintings in their homes.
My husband Earl and I have developed a process whereby we connect different sized canvases to create unique shapes for my paintings. Earl fashions custom framing that complements each one. We also attach smaller canvases to give a three dimensional effect to some of the paintings. We have never seen this done by any other artist and believe it makes my artwork stand out from all the rest. Each painting is varnished to aid in preservation and upkeep, and each painting is complemented by a brass name tag.
I am in my seventieth year and still going strong! I plan on doing this wonderful work for many more years to come.
