BUILDING YOUR OWN WEBPAGE 101

Welcome to having a presence on the net! In this forum you can present any type of information you can dream of ! Serious, Funny, Political, Spiritual, Hobby, Career, Family, and any other topic you can come up with. More than likely your ISP offers you a free web page. You may or may not like the capabilities they have to offer. Please find below several sites that offer you your very own Website for Free! Most have a good sized allowance for your files, and allow you to upload files from your computer to theirs for use on your website (i.e. photographs) Find a site that you can work with, and then we'll cover other topics !    

  I am going to assume you have never built a website and cover some very very basic rules for safety. Never publish your home address and/or telephone number on your website that is open to the public. Just as in real life, there are some unsavory characters on the net that you wouldn't want showing up on your doorstep.   Additionally, I would not recommend putting personal photographs on public pages, particularly of your children. This falls under the same "safety" rule. If you wanted to post this information on the internet for your very personal friends or family, build a "private" page that is not submitted to search engines, does not have metatags, and is not linked to any of your other webpages. Free Yellow is the best site for the novice web page builder. It offers you options, you select one and it builds the pages. It would be a good idea to work on this one FIRST to get a "feel" for how all these things work. My alternate website is still on free yellow where it began (Things Celestial) ! If you feel exceptionally brave, and want to try the "HTML" langauge there are some very good tutorial type sites on the internet to assist you with how to write in HTML. Please find links to some of these sites below.    

  Now that you have mastered these things, you will more than likely want to add graphics, hoo has and whistles. I may  not have used them here, but that doesn't mean they are not fun ! Please find links to graphics sites below. Dont' forget that while most of what you will find is free, be sure to read the terms of use on each website. Some only require that you put a little link back to their webiste on your page. Since they are providing you with cool free stuff for your website you will want to honor that request.

Now that you have the basics, you may want to ad some banners and earn some click through money ! Banners are not necessary but if you want to add some, here are some resources for you.
