I was instantly standing in vision in the parking lot of the church in Hollywood, FL, at the corner of Grant Street and NW 72 Avenue, looking East on Grant Street. (It was daylight). I could see rubble from a recent tsunami had been strewn in piles that were about four feet high, totally blocking the entirety of the street stretching East from where I stood. I could see nothing but the rubble in the street. Apparently, the tsunami that had hit here in Northwest Hollywood, Florida, had come this far inland and stopped. It was quite evident that no one was going to be driving anytime soon in this neighborhood. As an aside for those who are not familiar with streets and cities in South Florida, Hollywood Florida is located about 20 miles North of Miami. NW 72nd Avenue is located about 8 miles inland from the Atlantic ocean, about one mile West of the Florida Turnpike, and about 1 mile East of University Drive. I can, I believe, reasonably conclude from that vision that the tsunami would have covered Interstate 95 and the Florida Turnpike, probably rendering them impassable. That would leave US27 and I75 to the West as our only likely potential exit roads out of this area to travel to the North. Stephen L. Bening |
