PAPA
THE GREAT
Stars: Kishen
Kumar, Naghma, Shatrughan Sinha
Music: Nikhil-Vinay
Written and directed by: K Bhagyaraj
Releasing
in February, along with the big budget Pukar
and Kamal Haasan's magnum opus Hey!
Ram, will be the late Gulshan Kumar's
production Papa The Great. The producer's
younger brother Kishen Kumar, whose eminently
forgettable Bollywood career included the hit musical Bewafa
Sanam, makes a comeback to acting after six years. Keeping him
company is another comeback artiste Naghma, who had
moved on from a chequered career in Bollywood to success in the Telugu film
industry.
The director of the movie is K Bhagyaraj, whose
last Hindi movie was the super-duper Bachchan
starrer Aakhri Raasta, way back in the mid
80s.
Nikhil-Vinay,
the duo who also gave the hit music of Chor Aur Chand,
and Dulaara (remember Govinda's
Mera pant bhi sexy?), are repeated in the T-Series production after their
superhit tunes in Bewafa Sanam (all of which, incidentally, were straight
lifts from the tunes of Pakistani singer Ataullah Khan!)
The plot of the movie is a simple one: a once-revered father's attempts to win
back the affections of a son whom he has alieneted by his cowardice.
Actor-turned-politician cum TV compere Shatrughan Sinha
features in an appearance which is apparently so special that his mug needs to
be flashed in the promos more than the lead pair!
