BEADED EARRINGS AND JEWLERY

CHEROKEE CORN BEAD ROSETTE NECKLACE
IN NATURAL GREY SEEDS

THESE HAND MADE REPRODUCTIONS ARE VERY MUCH LIKE THE ONES WORN BY THE WOMEN WHO WALKED THE TRAIL OF TEARS.

The CHEROKEE CORN BEAD, is so named for it's resemblance to a kernel of corn. It grows wild and has a natural hole in the center of it. Legend states that many years ago, during the 1830's, the Real People, as the Cherokee call themselves, were rounded up like cattle, and forced to leave their homeland and walk west to a new land. They cried many tears of sorrow and grief. Where their tears hit the ground a plant sprang up. The seeds look like teardrops and were the color of grief. The Real People wear these seeds in necklaces and medallions in memory of the "Trail of Tears".
These seeds (also known as Job's Tears) were collected along the trail as the women walked and were made into rosettes necklaces and medallions like the ones you see here. The seeds are available today in a variety of colors.(Natural being the grey). Background beading will vary and contrast the seed color you choose.
