HOMEWORK / STUDY TIPS

Parent(s) or Guardian(s), please ensure that your child is studying each and every night for a minimum of 20-30 minutes!
Recently, some students have come to school without having completed their homework or, worse yet, not even making an attempt to do their homework. As I have instructed the students, a homework assignment that is not done can not be made up and the student receives a "0" for that particular assignment (the assgn. must still be done so that when a test or quiz is administered, your child will know how to answer the specific problem(s) related to the section that was not done for homework. Also, some students are telling me that they did not have the time to do my assignment, which usually takes no more than 20-30 minutes, because they were doing other homework assignments or were involved in extracurricular, after-school activities. Please emphasize the importance to your child of the necessity to complete ALL homework assigned. In advance, I thank you for your continued support and encouragement as we work together in assisting your child in accomplishing his/her academic goals.

As some of you have seen, evidenced by the TEST and/or QUIZ scores that your child has recently earned, it is clearly obvious to me that he/she is spending very little, or no, time at all in preparation for these evaluations of their knowledge and comprehension. Some students have admitted to me that they ARE NOT STUDYING and/or NOT taking notes in class. This is inexcusable and WILL NOT contribute to your child's overall, academic success. Please ensure and encourage that your child is studying, and ask him/her to answer your questions that are directly related to the concept being taught. The more that the classwork is being reinforced at home, the greater the likelihood that your child will be successful when being quizzed and/or tested. Remember, your child's success is a result of the involvement of his/her parent(s), himself/herself, as well as his/her teacher's dedication and committment !
