Brassavola cebolleta

Syn. B. retusa, B.revoluta & B. reginae, and B. bahiensis is wrong usage for this species
Origin Brazil
Plant description Relatively short, coarse, and somewhat upright, and must have the look of onion leaves. The leaves were described as 12-15 cm long, bulging fatly over the top of the narrow stems, and the plant produces only 1 or 2 flowers per growth.
Growing It's not very common seen in cultivation, need more data.
Blooming Season Summer (May and June)
Flower size and shape Sepals and pedals about 2.5 cm long, lip is 12-18 mm wide and up to 20-25 mm long.
Colors and fragrance From the picture in Dr. Withner's book, both the sepals and petals are greenish with tinted reddish brown toward the center, lip wider at the throat and appears flat, concave at the tip. Throat has green color like the sepals and petals.
Comments I bought a plant labeled B. bahiensis. This plant appears to be larger than the description above. Hopefully it will bloom this year, I will then have more data to compare. Other plant I have labeled B. martiana (definitely wrong), the flowers (pictured below as B. revoluta) in my opinion are identical to the B. revoluta's plate drawn from Martius's Flora Brasiliensis, 1898 (Dr. Withner's book). After compare the flowers, I am convinced that my plant is B. revoluta. The sepal and petals are evenly thin, with the sepals a bit larger.

B. revoluta - This is a collected plant from Peru and was labeled B. martiana. The petals, sepals and lip are all curved backward. I bloomed this plant several times, and never get more than two flowers per stalk.
