LORAM
Railgrinder train RG 301
Greenville, Fl
June 2001
On a Saturday afternoon, I am at it again chasing the Sunset Limited.
As usual the first encounter is at Live Oak. Due to the lifting of a bunch
of slow orders, it is the turn of the Sunset Limited to leave me behind
in a big cloud of dust (It had not rain significantly in weeks over North
Florida). I even lose it on the scanner. But in Madison, it gets in too
early and has to stay at the station until it is time to go. It is getting
dark anyway, so I move on. In Greenville, I noticed something yellow parked
in the siding. The crew of the railgrinder is shutting down the train for
the rest of the weekend in my favorite photo spot of the subdivision. Despite
the lack of light, I get the following shots. The last railgrinder to go
through went at a leisurely pace, so I am thinking about catching it again
after work during the week. On Monday, it was already gone west. I caught
up with it a couple of weekends later in Flomaton parked in a bad spot
and that was all.
