After my first trip to coal country, I had started planning a second
trip to the Pocas to catch some more coal action. From Roanoke, I drive
very early in the morning to Narrows and Glen Lyn, where I had noted
a few good spots along the New River. I catch a couple of intermodals,
but then the traffic completely dies down. Intrigued and disappointed,
I drive deep into the territory and find the convoy. No trains for the
rest of the day, but still a lot of action.
