James E Strates show
Albany, Ga; November 1999
Finally, a planned railfan trip with a picture perfect
weather (unlike the RBBX train). The show ended Saturday night. The dismantling
of the rides started right away and lasted all night and all day Sunday.
By the end of the day, the crew had worked over 16 hours in the row.
Norfolk Southern Yard
Empty flat cars passing the old Central Of Georgia office.
Flat cars were parked in the NS yard. Early in the morning, "typical
local NS power" picked the cars up to drop them off on the other side of
town on a rarely used siding behind the parking lot of a mall.
Parked trailers waiting to be loaded.
Trucks have pulled the packed rides from the fairgrounds to the loading
zone.
Loading zone.
They are then loaded on the flat cars.
Loaded cars are being moved to the NS yard.
Street running.
Washington Street in Albany, Ga is one of the rare street running left
in the US.
Hey, you in the SUV, you are going the wrong way!!!!!
Crew Cars
The crew finally gets a break Sunday and is allowed to come back to
their quarters.
