The weyr you enter is filled with the summer light and you see many books lining the walls. A large stone couch is not far from the ledge which is wide and has a great view of the beach and the hunting grounds. You begin inspecting the weyr picking up small paintings and looking at them. You walk into the supply room and run your fingers along the riding gear. You walk out of the supply room and are about to inspect the stone couch when you hear someone speaking. You poke your head out and see a man, bronze dragon, and a white firelizard walking around the room. The man is talking to the dragon and flit. The man's brown hair is in a mess and you can see that he has dark brown eyes. You begin to step back but knock a jar of numbweed over and attract the trio's attention. You quickly say hello hoping they won't notice you were looking through their things. "Uh, hi. I didn't mean to,uh,intrude."
The man smiles. "Oh it's okay. My name is S'tal. This is my bronze Naboth and my little white firelizard, Kalat. I impressed Naboth at the hatching & I was given Kalat."
You smile. "I didn't know there was a white firelizard. "
"Oh, the weyrleaders give one away at each hatching at Jerdan Weyr. You should visit it sometime, maybe you could be a candidate." {Shouldn't we be going? You said we were going to go get some food.}
"In a moment, Naboth. We have a guest." He turns back to you. "You can come with us if you like. I'm just going to let this impatient him hunt." You grin when the dragon snorts. "He seems to enjoy hunting a lot. He says he likes to see the herdbeasts scatter like dancing wherries before he catches one or two." You shrug and nod. "Sure, why not. It sounds neat." You follow S'tal outside and you both watch as the bronze flys out and grasps a large herdbeast and sits on a ledge and begins eating. You turn back to S'tal as he begins speaking to you.
"Well, now that he's eating I guess we can talk. I'm weyrbred. My father is a blue dragonrider and my mother is one of the cooks. She's the head cook's cousin. At the hatching I wasn't completely sure I was going to impress but I did have a nagging feeling. When Naboth hatched he was a fairly large hatchling and he approached myself and A'don. I remember holding my breath and when I heard Naboth's soothing and hungry voice in my head I couldn't of been happier. Of course I did feel a little guilty when I looked back at A'don but at the feast I saw that he had impressed a fine bronze himself which cheered me up immensely." He sits down and swings his legs back and forth while looking at Naboth. "He's been blooding his kill lately. I'm taking that as a sign that he will be participating in an upcoming flight."{I'm finished. Let's go to the beach for a swim.} S'tal grins. "Okay." He jumps on the dragon's back and speaks to you quickly. "We have to go." Naboth pushes S'tal towards the beach with Kalat flying in circles around them.
A warm summer breeze gushes by messing up your hair. The herdbeasts graze not far from where you are standing and you spy a herd of runnerbeasts near the beach. Looking up, you note the dragons & their riders in the sky obviously enjoying the weather and taking advantage of it. The grass has grown to a lush, dark green and the flowers have come into full bloom. Sighing, you decide it might be nice to meet some of the riders or hopeful candidates. You choose a weyr that is not so far from the ground and go into it...
