Pop star JESSICA SIMPSON is desperate for a fresh start after going through a tumultuous year working through her divorce from ex-husband NICK LACHEY.
The WITH YOU star turned 26 on 10 July (06) and is looking forward to starting over with a clean slate.
She explains, "This last year for me has been a very intense year. It'll be nice to turn 26 and come into a new year with a different perspective.
"I think every year you become more clear about why it is you're here.
"I'll start a new journal. The colours I choose for my journals always reflect the mood I'm in. And if I don't have the right colour pen, I won't write.

7/9/06 According to Radio & Records, Jessica's new single "A Public Affair" debuts at #29 on the pop chart this week! The single has already outpeaked her last single "These Boots Are Made For Walkin'" on the pop chart which peaked at #30 in July of 2005.
Jessica also debuts at #39 on the Hot 100 this week and at #15 on the Digital Downloads chart!

Since the last update we have seen Jessica score a #1 hit (With You) a hugely popular TV show "Newlyweds" with husband Nick Lachey. The latest is now Jessica is starring as Daisy Dukes in The Dukes of Hazzard. She is also performing the main single from the soundtrack. It's a remake of Nancy Sinatra's "These Boots Were Made For Walking" and it features legendary country music icon Willie Nelson.
On the R&R 7/1 Pop chart "These Boots Were Made For Walking" debuted this week at #44!!! This is bound to be Jessica's 10th top 40 hit! (Hopefully this will also be her 5th top 10 hit!)

A second desperate housewife, Marcia Cross, topped the second five. In seventh place was Simple Lifer Nichole Richie trailed by Mischa Barton of "The OC," Oprah Winfrey and Gwyneth Paltrow.
