A quote from Sylvia Harrison, of South Africa.
"I have grown African Violets all my life, but only went commercial about 12 years ago. At that time I also started our Kwa-Zulu-Natal African Violet Society, in South Africa, which is still running today. This is the only A.V.Society in our Province and our Annual Shows, which are run under AVSA rules and judged by AVSA judges, are very popular. Members and visitors travel many miles to attend these annual shows from all over South Africa.
I started hybridizing AV's, about 5 years ago as it was getting very expensive to import any new ones. I was delighted with my new seedlings and most surprised when I started getting orders from Overseas for them. Guess I was very lucky that I managed to obtain some very unusual and unique blooms.
It was very fortunate that Nancy Blanton and I met over the internet and I have now decided to give Nancy, sole distributorship of my hybrids in the United States. This will make it a lot easier for U.S. citizens to be able to buy direct from her, without the necessary certificates and expensive
shipping involved, when buying direct from me. Nancy asked me for a couple of pictures to put on the web site. They are my ribbons and trophies from our 2001 show, here in S. Africa.:) |
