The First Victim

As Charled Cross walked through the street of London around four in the morning on August 31, 1888, he discovered a woman laying on her back with her skirt lifted and wrapped high around her waist. Once extensive observations were done, police identified the lifeless body as Mary Ann "Polly" Nichols. Gaushes were found in her abdomen and pools of blood were all around her. Her throat had been slit and blood spurted out of it. This was the just the beginning to the horror story.

Elizabeth Stride

By the time of this murder, many witnesses came clean and said that they saw Liz right before she was murdered. One man named George Hutchinson. He met up with her Friday morning around 2 am. She asked him for money to which he replied that he had none to spare. With that she walked away and ran into another man whom she asked again for money. The man walked away with his arm wrapped around her shoulders. This was the last time that Mary Jean Kelly was seen. If Hutchinson’s testimony is correct, then he saw Jack the Ripper. The description given from Hutchinson was: in early to mid thirties, about 5’6”, pale complexion, dark eyes and dark hair, slim mustache curled at each end, wearing a dark long coat, dark jacket under the coat, dark pants, with button boots. He had a respectable appearance and walked very sharp.

The Worst and Final Murder

The worst and final murder occured on November 9, 1888. The victim was Mary Jane Kelly. "The body was lying naked in the middle of the bed, the shoulders flat, but the axis of the body inclined to the left side of the bed...The whole of the surface of the abdomen and thighs was removed and the abdominal cavity emptied of its viscera. The breasts were cut off, the arms mutilated by several jagged wounds and the face hacked beyond recognition of the features and the tissues of the neck were severed all round down to the bone. The viscera were found in various parts: the uterus and kidney with one breast under the head, the other breast by the right foot, the liver between the feet, the intestines by the right side and the spleen by the left side. The flaps removed from the abdomen and thighs were on a table. Her face was gashed in all directions, the nose, cheeks, eyebrows and ears being partly removed. The lips were blanched and cut by several incisions running obliquely down to the chin. There were also numerous cuts extending irregularly across all of the features. The skin and tissues of the abdomen from the costal arch to the pubes were removed in three large flaps. The right thigh was denuded in front to the bone, the flap of skin including the external organs of generation and part of the right buttock. The left thigh was stripped of skin, fascia and muscles as far as the knee" (crime library). Mary Jane was also said to have been pregnant. This would end the terrible crimes that hit Whitechaple's streets.
