Working most of my adult life doing custom woodwork
on large private yachts in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.  I have been
associated with fine woodwork for along time. I purchased
a cheap wood lathe and learned a few things for myself and I
found out this small lathe was not going to be my answer.
When visiting Alva Hardwoods in Alva, Florida. I asked if
they knew anyone who could give me private lessons and
that is how I met Ernie Cassady.  He described Ernie as a
Master Woodturner. That was my  lucky day. Then I
purchased a Powermatic 3520A lathe and shavings have
been flying ever since.

News : April 05

I have just sold my Powermatic and have ordered a new
Stubby s750 it will be here in June 05. So in the meantime
I will be doing most of my turning on my midi lathe. Ever
since I attended a class with Don Geiger I fell in love
with a Omega Stubby Lathe.

I live in Lakeport, Florida on the banks of Lake Okeechobee.
Lake Okeechobee is the 2nd largest freshwater lake in the
United States. Being a retired Ships Carpenter woodturning
is 2nd nature to me. Norfolk Is. Pine is one of my favorite
woods to turn.  I like segmented work also.  If you like any
of my work please contact me. I would like hearing from you.

I Belong to the Woodturners of SW Florida in Ft. Myers, Florida

David Ellsworth

I attended a week of turning classes at Arrowmont Craft School in Gattlinburg, Tenn.
in June 04. David Ellsworth was the Instructor for the week. Being in the company
of one of the  most famous woodturners in the world was sure a great experience for me. I would
recommend Arrowmont to anyone who is interested in going to a Crafts School.

Virginia Dotson's Laminated Bowl

I attended a week of turning classes at Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Snowmass,
CO in July,05. The Instructor was Virginia Dotson on Laminated Bowl turning. It was
no doubt very interesting and enjoyable. The school has the state of the Art equipment in the
Carpenter and Lathe shops. The surroundings are breathtaking set deep in the heart of the
Rocky Mountains.  Just 8 miles from Aspen. Highly Recommended. !!!!
