Building my 89 Firebird with a Pontiac 462
The "Cheap" Car
While I can't say what I actually paid for it because that was part of the agreement I made with the seller (bought the car at work and don't want to upset others that made offers on the car) let me just say that I really wasn't looking to buy this car, it just kinda entered my life. My true passion is 70-73 Firebirds, and my current car is a 73 Formula. Lets just say I was damn near broke at the time, and the deal was to good to pass up. So like so many other projects, this one just presented itself to me, and I feel obligated to bring it to life.
What is actually there
Well, the body is actually solid. There is no motor or transmission, but I wouldn't have used them anyway so that is OK. Someone left the driver side window open about 8-9 inches, so water got inside, and its got that water log smell. Have to fix that. Has a ground effect kit everywhere but the front bumper. Might leave that off anyway so more air gets under the front of the car. Tail lights and t-tops look great.
The "Plan"
The plan is to swap the drive train out of the 73 Formula and put it in this car. This will be fun for me and please the wife at the same time. How often does that happen? This car has T-tops, A/C, and power steering. Three things my 73 no longer has. The current engine is a Pontiac 462, that I built this past winter. It is typical Pontiac build up.1974 400 4X heads home ported, NOS RA IV cam,1.62 rockers, balanced bottom end with nodular crank cut .010/.010. For induction I am currently using a 1968 GTO cast-iron intake, heat crossover blocked, and a New Rochester 850cfm 4-bbl. Again, basic, bur all it takes to make more power than most get from there "tricked-out" small block.  This pic is just a filler until I snap off a shot of the motor. That is the car it is coming out of. That is my son, and helper mechanic, Cody on the hood. 3 years old, and already loves hotrods.
The "Parts" I have collected so far for the body
So far I have collected most of the parts I need. For the body, I have got a new fender and bumper support and passenger door. For the interior I have put a set of 2001 Camaro seats front and back. Perfect bolt ins and they were free. Going to try a 2000 center console next. Well that is enough for 1 night. Will update as time permits. Thank you

Andy
