Alas, dear Kad, I became your friend almost too late. You were already sick by then, and I sat watching while you withered away. I asked around, trying to get any information I could to help you.. but by the time it came, it was useless. I know deep down inside that I couldn't have done any more than I did, but it doesn't make things any easier. The tears I gave for you the night I found out were some of the last tears I've ever been capable of. I haven't been able to put it all into a proper form until now. Farewell, my friend. I have not forgotten you.

for Kadiya

So, so you think you can tell
heaven from hell, blue skies from pain
can you tell a green field
from a cold steel rail?
a smile from a veil?
do you think you can tell?

and did they get you to trade
your heroes for ghosts?
hot ashes for trees?
hot air for a cool breeze?
cold comfort for change?
and did you exchange
a walk on part in the war
for a lead role in a cage?

how I wish, how I wish you were here
we're just two lost souls
swimming in a fish bowl, year after year
running over the same old ground
what have you found? the same old fears
Wish You Were Here
