She began her career at a very young age. Gutierrez studied under the direction of some of the most renowned and distinguished instructors of Mexico City. She studied at the INBA (The National Institute of Fine Arts) as well as in Amalia Hernandez famous Folkloric Ballet of Mexico, she accomplished a soloist dance career with The National Folkloric Ballet of Mexico under the direction of Silvia Lozano.

Touring and performing with Semblanzas de Mexico to Japan, she served as line captain, company manager and road manager for the National Theater of the Performing Arts, and subsequently, as company tour director of Ballet Ollimpaxqui from 1993 through 1995, when she relocated to Las Vegas.

Ixela has been the Artistic Director for Día de Los Muertos & Día del Niño at the Springs Preserve Since 2009 bringing more than 15 000 people every year. Imagination Celebration since 2010. In 2009. founded of the MVIG Cultural Arts Center and Gutic Productions offering a variety of artistic development programs to all ages and offering support to other performers. In 2012 MVIG Cultural Arts Center open a 8000 sq feet new location at The Boulevard Mall expanding with big success great cultural programs.

Gutierrez is also the founder, artistic director and producer of the Las Vegas World Folk Festival, which debuted in 2004, attracting more than 1000 performers around the world in a spectacular four day event bringing to Las Vegas thousands of dollars in a cultural tourism.

The annual festival also includes a Dance Congress and Competition, with performances like: in downtown Las Vegas in the open air Freemont Street Mall and in numerous venues around the city, including the Winchester Cultural Center, Cashman Theater and Henderson Amphitheater, Imperial Palace Theater, Circus, Circus The Boulevard Mall, Westgate Casino.

In 2007, Governor of Nevada Jim Gibbons and The Nevada Arts Council honored Ixela Gutierrez & Mexico Vivo D.C. with the Governor’s Arts Award to recognize their outstanding Excellence in Folk and Traditional Arts and enduring contributions to Nevada through artistic achievement and service to the arts since 1995.

In 2009 Ms Gutierrez has been honored as the very first winner of the Nevada Arts Council’s Nevada Heritage Award, created to spotlight Nevada’s finest and most influential masters of folk art.
