Summary: After
suffering from visions that tell of a future without her mate, Buffy decides to
try to beat fate at its own game. She urges Spike to leave home and take a job
with a demon bounty hunting firm. Spike knowing of her increased psychic
abilities decides to trust her and do as she requests. He is also hoping that
being away from home will give him answers to questions he’s been too afraid to
ask about himself.
Both are unaware of a
prophecy that has been revealed to their son, Elijah, that
is the catalyst behind their separation. As events unfold they are given a
glimpse of a possible horrific future that hinges on the choices they make.
While Spike struggles to
become the man he needs to be, his path is hindered by memories of his evil
past and his own doubts. Buffy will be forced to face her greatest fear and has
to make a decision that may cost her everything. On the way to the truth of who
they are as individuals and a couple, they cross paths with old friends, angels
and a very special fairy.
