DRIVING TIPS FOR THE MUD

1. Momentum is your friend.

2. Stay out of the ruts, if several trucks have gone through the same spot before you.

3. If your truck is slowing, rock the steering back and forth so the tires can grab firmer ground. Resist the urge to stomp harder on the gas-keep the throttle steady. Lead footing usually eliminates the traction you have left.

4. If forward movement stops, let off the gas before you bury the truck to the frame. If you stop in time, you can usually drive out of the hole in Reverse, and take another shot.

5. Keep the windows rolled up if you care at all about the interior, and make sure the wiper blades are in good condition.

6. Don't bog the engine. Try to keep it in its optimum powerband with out overrevving.

7, If you are in 4-Hi and become stuck, try 4-Lo before you break out the tow strap. Also, if your engine constantly bogs down mud, you may want to run in 4-Lo all the time.

8. Don't panic if you start to dig in a little. The tires are looking for firmer ground. Just keep steady and watch forward motion.

9. Bring a friend with another truck, a yank strap, and a camera-you will get stuck eventually, and mud creates some of the best photo opportunities we've seen.
