The Baby Spice Story
Emma Lee Bunton was born January 21st 1976 in Barnet, England and raised in a flat in Finchely, London. When she was just a Baby, Emma won a Beauty contest. Her mother decided to go get her an agent and thats just what she did. Emma was a young cutie destined to be famous!
Emma modelled for magazines and starred in various commercials such as a Crest Toothpaste Commercial, A Milky Way commercial where she played The Milky Boy Kid's girlfriend, and a cake commercial where she was a figure on top of a Wedding cake. She was called "The Toothpaste Girl" because of her apperiance in the Crest Toothpaste commercial. When she was 10 years old, Emma passed and audition to attend "Sylvia Young's Dance School". She always had Madonna parties where everyone would come to her house dressed as Madonna and they would all use a hairbrush as a microphone. At the age of 11, Emma's parents divorced and her father Trevor moved out of the house. "Everyone says it was the worst time of my life, but it really wasn't." Emma admits. Nothing could hold her back!
Emma's dream was to become a dancer, but a back injury crushed that goal. That didn't make her give up though! When she was 14 years old, her parents couldn't afford to send her to Sylvia Young anymore and she was forced to leave. She attended a regular school, but she often cried because she thought the school's system wasn't "proper". A week later Emma's friend could see that her heart was crushed so he phoned the head misstress at Sylvia Young and they gave Emma a scholarship to return. She stayed at the shool up until The age of 16, she then left and attended a college where she took performing arts.
One day, Emma read an ad that proclaimed that auditions for an all girl group were being held. That was Emma's call. She went to the auditions but didn't make it. Luckily band member Michelle Stephenson left and they chose a Northern London girl who wore her hair in school girl bunches to take Michelle's place and the girl they chose was named Emma Bunton.
AN EMAIL I RECIEVED FROM A BOY WHO WENT TO SCHOOL WITH EMMA
I recently came across a website created by a boy named Alex Seeley who atteneded Saint Theresa's Primary School with Emma. I emailed him and asked him if he could tell me anything that he remembered about Emma and here's what he said...
"I wish I could think of anything new to tell you about her, but I don't
remember an awful lot besides what I've put on my web page. I remember she
was always easy-going and got on well with people better than many of the
girls in our class. The last time I saw her was when we were both your age,
back in 1987! I don't remember how good she was at work - she definitely
wasn't stupid, and I don't remember her having any problems with work even
though she was so often away from class to do her modelling work."
