Hi!
Akela here of the 7th Doveton Cubs Scouts in Melbourne Australia I have been
involved in Scouting now for the last 7 years during this time we have done a
lot of great things with the cub scouts, to name a few of them, a few of us
participated in the Cuboree that was held in Australian Captital Territory Canberra in 1996, this was a fun time
for all of the cubs that attended.
In 1997 we attended another Cuboree at Gilwell Park Gembrook Victoria during the time they were at
the cuboree the Cubs and Leaders participated in a lot of learning activites, which was great fun
for all. The Leaders got a lot of enjoyment seeing the cubs have so much fun. This was a camp
that all cubs should attend in coming years. The next one will be held in 1999.
Oh! boy what fun we have doing all these things with our cubs. In our pack we have 3 leaders, Raksha, Rikki and ofcourse me Akela. We have 18 cubs, both boys and girls in our pack at the moment. The cubs have learned a lot of things while they have been in Scouting everything from setting up there own tents to knotting. We also do cooking, sewing and they love play acting.
We have had many pack holidays of our own and had a wonderful time, during the pack holiday camps we would run on a theme, whether it would Robin Hood and his merry men or Gladiators. The Cubs really get into the fun of being a character while at camp. I have had so much fun getting right in there with them. Gee I have even been a pirate. Ha! Ha! We all really enjoy getting involved.
The cubs scouts have pen pals in the United Kingdom, which they write to when Akela doesn't forget..Ha! Ha! They have sent many pictures to them, and the cubs have written about how they feel about conservation.
