First Georgia Cavalry-- I have completed the addition of the first half of Pvt. O. P. Hargis' journal, where he recounts his experiences with the First Georgia Cavalry during the last year of the War. Part two will be added soon.This page will prove to be the most comprehensive of them all. Actually, only Co A was from Polk County, but my great, great, great grandfather, Pvt. McDonald Tanner, was in Co H, so I have done a lot of research on them. I have so much information that I feel that it would be an injustice to just cover Co A. I would like to thank Randy Knight, of Robbinsville, North Carolina, for much of this material. He has worked hard for many years compiling this material. His great grandfather, Pvt Jonathan Gurley, was in Co A. We share a common bond that only we of Confederate ancestry can begin to understand. And for those who don't...well, we don't expect you to.

Polk Rifles, Phillips' Legion-- On this page, I have an exciting first-hand account of Pvt. J. S. Wood's four years with Phillips' Legion. There are also personal profiles of Captain Frank Wimberly and Captain Julius A. Peek.
Polk County Rangers-- A Flag Presentation by Miss Lyons to the Polk County Rangers upon their departure to Virginia, and a personal profile of Colonel James D. Waddell are featured here. I have also began posting their Muster Roll.
All Others--This page will cover Polk County Confederates who weren't in the four Companies from Polk County. I have posted the thrilling story of the legendary John Pryor, who,in his own words, tells of how he avenged the murder of his father right after the close of the War. A must read !
