My Duck Ancestors
My greatgrandfather was George Duck. He was born February 2, 1833 in the parish of St. Giles, Colchester, Essex. His parents were Isaac and Mary Duck. George was a mariner for a short time but then he became a fireman in the Metropolitan Fire Brigade in London. He was a fireman from 1856 to 1882 at which time he retired and lived at 45 Albert Road in Walthamstow. He died on Dec.19, 1907 in Walthamstow.
He married Eliza Adams on May20,1856. Eliza was the daughter of Thomas Adams, clerk. She was born in Plymouth, Devon in 1824.
