We are hoping that this page will first
of all, let all you other servers know
that you are not the only ones that feel
this way sometimes. Second, to let all
the non-servers know what it is like to
be a server and that it isn't that easy
to deal with people all day and still
act pleasant knowing that your income
depends on what people decide to tip
you. We also have a message board so that you
can post your own complaints,
comments, facts (labor laws that pertain
to servers ie. overtime, min. wage
etc.), and funny stories (mabye
revenge on a customer, things that go on
in the kitchen, those nightmares that we
all have about being in the "weeds").
Maybe if enough people become involved,
things will change for the better for
us.
This is a list of things you probably need to
know.
We will be having a monthly contest for people to send in their photographs and every month they will be judged by James Bartholet and myself. There is really no theme except being a server and looking *HOT*. Those pictures selected as winners will be posted for the month and entered for "Mr & Miss Server Of The Year". Click the link to James's page (L.A. Nite Life With James Bartholet) and learn about him. All pictures can be sent to voodoochild@angelfire.com if you have any questions about the contest, feel free to email me there. Oh one more thing The pics dont have to be "G" rated But, No "X" pictures either. The first pictures will be posted May 1st
Some people are saying things like: "Get
an education", "Get a degree", "Get another
job and quit your bitching".
A lot of people who work in the restaurant
business as servers or bartenders have a
degree or advanced degree. Tons are trying to
pay their way through school. So for those of
us who were not lucky enough to have our
tuitions paid for by others, waiting tables
is a good way to make the money that we need.
Most people don't make a career out of it.
It is also a second income for some people.
This is the type of job that is easy to get
without an education and the scheduling can
fit around your school and/or other job
schedules.
There are numerous jobs where the workers
have to deal with those difficult people
(postal workers, D.M.V employees, police
officers, hospital workers, teachers, etc.).
Servers and bartenders and a few others are
the ones who have to depend on people's
generosity for their income, so we don't get
paid if we don't deal with their shit and
smile about it. Most other jobs get a
paycheck regardless. Also, servers are so
expendable that management won't hesitate to
fire someone because of a customer complaint
or calling in sick without a doctors note
(even though most restaurants don't provide
any kind of health insurance).
We respect and value everyones oppinion but,
someone out to make ignorant comments and
name calling is just stupid. We never asked
for everyone to agree with us but, when
certian people get a kick out of flaming just
for fun, you piss alot of people off. Even
worse than someone who posts flames in the
guest book or on the message board, are the
cowards who email me so noone else can see
their stupidity. From now on, any emails
which I have described above will be posted
on a page along with email addresses and
names
