The Actress
Raven-haired, blue-eyed Azura plays Jane Cooper, Jack's
fraternal twin who has a quizzical, deadpan sense of humor and
an all-consuming interest in the members of the opposite sex, "She is
extremely insecure about absolutely everything but passes it off
as cool," Skye says succinctly about her character. "I'm more
self-confident than she is. She looks up to Zoe and lives through
her a little bit."
Not a day goes by that Skye does not politely explain that she is
no relation to actress Ione Skye. Named for the beautiful blue
semiprecious gemstone azurite, Skye has grown up in an
entertainment-business family. Her grandfather, Brad Johnson,
starred as Sheriff Lofty Craig in the classic 1950s children's
western series "Annie Oakley," and her father, an artist and
sculptor, builds intricate scale models for such feature films as
"Titanic" and the James Bond thriller "Tomorrow Never Dies."
Skye began acting in plays and musicals at the age of three. At
the age of 11 she toured Los Angeles performing for high school
and grade school audiences and went to England, where she
studied and trained with professional British stage actors.
Skye made her screen debut at the age of 15 in "Alone" a
Showtime telefilm starring Hume Cronyn, James Earl Jones and
Shelly Duvall and written by Horton Foote. She guest-starred on
"Chicago Hope," "Touched by an Angel," and "Total Security"
and starred in the CBS telefilm "Cab to Canada" with the
legendary Maureen O'Hara. Her feature film credits include a
costarring role in "Town and Country" with Warren Beatty and
Gary Shandling.
Born November 8 in her grandmother's house in Northridge,
California, Skye graduated from the academically top-ranked
Brentwood School and plans to go to college. Away from
production stages, she enjoys hanging out with her friends,
watching television, and practicing on her vintage hollow-body
electric guitar. Skye likes to take time for volunteer work
whenever she gets the opportunity. She makes her home in Los
Angeles.
The Character
Jane Cooper is an old tortured soul trapped in a
young girl's body. She's the cynical confidante of
Zoe Bean and the one constantly bringing her
egocentric twin, Jack, back down to earth.
Azure says her
character is witty, dry and funny. "I get the good
writing,".
A different-looking beauty who feels awkward, Jane
feels Zoe is the one to whom things really happen.
What's a girl to do? "Jump start" her life, says
Jane. She may be insecure and unsure about boys and what comes next, but
Jane holds her own in a unique way.
