Webber trying to get off a shot Steve Smith scored 19 points and Damon Stoudamire added 16 pts and 11 assists to lead the unbeaten TrailBlazers to their second victory over the Kings in the pre-season. They won by a score of 103-96. Portland also played without injured starters Scottie Pippen, Arvydas Sabonis, and Brian Grant. Vlade Divac led all Kings with 17 points and 11 rebounds.
Late in the 4th quarter, with the Kings trailing 98-90, J-Will and Nick Anderson connected on consecutive 3-pointers to cut the lead to only two. Gary Trent the canned a 12-foot jumper with 25 seconds left. Vlade tried to hit a three, but it missed, leaving the Kings to foul Greg Anthony, and to watch him hit two free throws, to put the Kings away. The win left Portland as the only unbeaten team (pre-season) in the NBA. Other notables, Portland: Rasheed Wallace 14 pts, Detlef Schrempf and Greg Anthony both 11 pts. Sacramento: Jon Barry 16 pts, Jason Williams 14 pts.
