Kings Win Again! By Clinton KingsCourt Co-Founder (Written on November 19, 1999)
It took Sacramento 3 quarters to contain Hakeem Olajuwon, but when they did, they did it right. Olajuwon dominated us throughout the first three quarters scoring 30 points, but in the fourth, we held him to only 1. Sacramento's bench--who have been dubbed the Bench Mob--out-scored Houston's 68-30 to lead us to a 128-110 victory, which snapped our 11-game losing streak against the Rockets. Predrag Stojakovic scored 20 points including 7 during the Kings' 17-1 run in the fourth quarter to seal the win. Darrick Martin, Lawernce Funderburke, and Jon Barry also helped big off the bench scoring 14, 12, and 14 [respectively]. On a night when Chris Webber produces his season's lowest in points (7) and rebounds (3), you would think another starter would have to step up. Well, they did. Jason Williams, who was celebrating his 24th birthday, scored 23 points, dished 10 assists, and grabbed 4 rebounds. This brings the Kings up to 5-1, while the Rockets are now 2-8.
