Miami Ends Sacramento's Streak By Clinton KingsCourt Co-Founder (Written on November 30, 1999)
The Miami Heat, led by Jamal Mashburn, did something Monday night that many people were wondering when and if it would ever happen. They beat the Sacramento Kings. Don't get me wrong, the Kings were going to lose eventually, but they had won 8 games in a row. Miami won the game 98-88. Mashburn, who was celebrating his 27th birthday, scored 22 points and had 5 rebounds. The Heat won their third straight game without star point-guard Tim Hardaway. Chris Webber continued to play great, leading the Kings with 18 points and 10 rebounds; Jason Williams scored 17, had 8 assists, but he committed 8 turnovers. The Kings had been averaging 108 points per game, and this was the second time they were held under 100. We didn't play bad, but the Heat out-rebounded us 53-38, and they played much better defense. The Kings are now 9-2, while Miami is 11-3. Next up for Sacramento is Orlando on Tuesday night.
