FCCLA History and Facts
The organization was founded in 1945 as Future Homemakers of America by Edna P. Amidon.

The Mission of our organization is to promote personal growth and leadership development through Family and Consumer Sciences Education.

The motto of our organization is toward new horizons.

The colors are red and white.

The flower is the red rose.

There are 8 purposes or our organization.

FCCLA helps develop life skills such as planning, goal setting, public speaking, problem solving, and decision making.

FCCLA addresses youth concerns such as family communication, environment, peer pressure, substance abuse, and career exploration.

The National Headquarters of FCCLA are located in Reston, Virginia.

FCCLA has chapters located in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and American Schools overseas.
