Shannon continues talking.
Isle unicorns , on the other hand ,
were created recently , when the royal stables of the Sapphire Isle bred a
Northern Unicorn stallion with a Isle Horse mare.
The result was two twin foals , a colt and filly ,
which carried both characteristics
of the Northern Unicorns and Isle horses .
These were christened Isle Unicorns - the first
of their kind , but not necessarily the last.
Since then , a breeding program has been set up
in the Sapphire Isle for these equines ,
and we at the Stables are also hoping to breed them.
Isle Unicorns are special in that they
have characteristics of both breeds.
Both genders carry the feathering ,
and while the stallions have horns ,
only the mares carry the lightning mark on the rump -
they have no horns.
They come in many 'normal' horse colours
like the Isle Horses ,
but sometimes a unicorn will turn up with the required colouring
for a Northern Unicorn clan - then they will belong to that clan.
Not much is known about this new breed
at the moment , but as time goes on ,
the characteristics of this breed will become known.
