Toy Commander is undoubtably one of the most unique games on the Dreamcast so far! With 50 different missions and a four-player mode to choose from it isn't going to get boring quick. The game mixes some awesome vehicles with great gameplay and throws them into one delicious, fun-filled desert. It will make you feel like a kid again, if you aren't one already.

The game starts off with the traditional intro movie, which leads you into the story of the game. As the story goes, Huggy Bear, the TOY COMMANDER, and his troop of old toys gets tired of being neglected by Andy. To stop Andy of his "evil" ways they decide to destroy Andy. Your job, as Andy's faithful toys, is to stop this from happening and help Andy reclaim the title of Toy Commander.

Toy Commander hosts a number of different vehicles, 35 to be exact. They range from planes and tanks to jeeps and jets, and my friend says that a lot of these vehicles are "real!" Some of them are WW fighters while others are modern jets, and some of them are just No Cliche's imagination going wild.

The levels are just as varied as the vehicles themselves, from the first level to the final boss. Some of the levels have you lead a group of Army-men into battle while others will send you off flying into far away galaxies, well sort of. Even though you are in space ships when you are taking these "far away galaxy" trips you are still inside Andy's house. Andy's house consists of eight different areas which may include two rooms, making for a lot of the variety in the levels.

The game's graphics are just as good as the game itself. Most of the time, if not all, the game is running at a consistant 60 fames per second. The toys in the game are more accurately modeled then toys in real life are, and you will be wishing that you could have something as cool looking as the toys in the game.

Although one place that the game flaws, not much but does, is in control. Sometimes vehicles are hard to manuvar through race courses or go to fast to control. Other times vehicles are sluggish and in turn so is the control. Although, when you get right down to it most of the vehicles handle pretty well, but you just get a sour taste in your mouth when you have to controll a bad one, expecially through race tracks.

Since the vehicles are real, No Cliche' had to add a little something else to make the experience even more special, SOUND EFFECTS. And mind you, No Cliche' did well. Every vehicle has some type of engine noise, and depending on the vehicle, the different tone it has. From the sounds of the missles firing to the painful crash(of one of your vehicles hitting the floor) No Cliche' provides all the neccessities to keep the game running smoothly. Even the music in the background easily sets the stage for the level.

This is an excellent game! With so many vehicles and levels you won't be able to stop, and don't forget the 4 player deathmatch. And, even though the control isn't that great it shouldn't really affect gameplay, besides a lot of the vehicles handle really well, just some sock you in the stomach and you can't forget about it.
